Palletizing robot for handling cardboard sheets
The 12-meter long palletizing robot EGApicker makes the daily work at Jessen Packaging easier. The EGApicker feeds the cardboard sheets into the existing punching machine and thus replaces the manual work process and creates a better working environment.
The challenge
Normally, cardboards are lifted up manually to a punching machine involving heavy lifts and awkward postures, which has a harmful effect on the employee. Therefore, the customer needed a solution that could replace this manual process.
The solution
For the task, EGApicker was selected as it efficiently automates the handling process. By removing repetitive work, a better working environment was achieved. The EGApicker is 12 meters long and can handle different types of cardboard sheets, ranging from 600mm to 6000mm in length. The palletizing robot runs in a continuous flow with a cycle time of 10 seconds per sheet. The sheets are lifted by suction cups, which are mounted on three lifting booms. These are set manually depending on the size of the sheet. The cardboard sheet is then lifted onto a conveyor, which transports it into a punching machine.
